Barry Harris Piano Boptism

Recently the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music acquired a new Steinway piano in their performance space. To officially welcome this new instrument, a special, intimate group of students and teachers gathered to witness master pianist Barry Harris give the piano his blessing by playing. The attendees at this 'Boptism' included saxophonist and New School faculty Dave Glasser with his BeBop Harmony class, the executive director of the New School for Jazz Martin Mueller, the director of administrations Pam Sabrin and some of Barry Harris's friends and supporters.

It was a touching event and I'm so glad I was able to be there!
